P. J. Lynch

P. J. Lynch (born 1962 in Belfast, Northern Ireland) is an acclaimed Irish children’s-book illustrator known for his richly detailed, painterly watercolours. He has illustrated over twenty books — including the much-loved The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey and When Jessie Came Across the Sea — and has won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal twice as well as the Christopher Medal three times. Between 2016 and 2018 he served as the fourth Laureate na nÓg — Ireland’s national children’s literature laureate — championing the power of images to inspire young readers.
