Brian Selznick, born in 1966 in East Brunswick, New Jersey, is an American author and illustrator best known for his innovative work in children’s and young adult literature. He gained widespread acclaim for The Invention of Hugo Cabret, which uniquely blends illustrations and text to tell a cinematic story and won the Caldecott Medal in 2008.
