T. S. Eliot

T. S. Eliot (1888–1965) was an American-born British poet, essayist, and playwright, widely regarded as one of the most influential literary figures of the 20th century. He is best known for landmark works such as The Waste Land, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, and Four Quartets, which explore modernist themes of fragmentation, despair, and spiritual searching. Eliot also won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948 and made significant contributions as a literary critic and editor, shaping the course of modern English literature.
