Matt de la Peña
Matt de la Peña is an American author of young adult novels and children’s picture books, known for bringing stories with racial, economic and cultural diversity to young readers. He earned his BA at University of the Pacific on a basketball scholarship before completing an MFA in creative writing at San Diego State University, and later was awarded the Newbery Medal in 2016 for his picture book 'Last Stop on Market Street'.
