J. K. Rowling is a British author best known for creating the Harry Potter series, one of the best-selling book franchises in history, which has been adapted into blockbuster films and inspired a global cultural phenomenon. Before her literary success, she worked as a researcher and bilingual secretary while writing the first Harry Potter novel in cafés across Edinburgh. In addition to her work in fiction, Rowling writes adult novels under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith and is involved in various philanthropic endeavors.
