When We Got Lost in Dreamland

I would recommend this book to everyone as it is great, not too scary and a good bedtime read
I thought I had read other books by Ross Welford, but this was actually the first one and it certainly won’t be the last!
When I first saw the title, I was worried that the story was going to be babyish or girly because of the ‘dreamland. However, I was wrong!
It was very hard to put this book down and the chapters were very short and easy to read.
When Malky, the main character, finds a small paper bag with two ‘Dreaminators’ hidden inside he has the ability to control his dreams. He and his annoying brother Sebastian enter the world of dreamland until one morning only one of the two brothers return to the real world and that’s when the real adventures start.
Sebastian has to put his trust in Malky and at times there is a lot of tension and you just can’t stop reading until you find out what happens next.
My favourite character was Susan as she was very clever and she knew a lot about lucid dreaming and waking dreams. Throughout the book she is a great friend to Malky and believes him about the dreaming.
I would definitely read this book again as it is a great novel. I would recommend this book to everyone as it is great, not too scary and a good bedtime read.

But… impossible dreams come with incredible risks, and when Seb won’t wake up and is taken to hospital in a coma, Malky is forced to leave reality behind and undertake a final, terrifying journey to the stone-age to wake his brother…

Ross Welford is an English children’s author — originally from Cullercoats in northeast England — who turned to writing after an earlier career as a journalist and television producer.He published his debut middle-grade novel Time Travelling with a Hamster in 2016, which was widely acclaimed and shortlisted for many major children’s-book awards; since then he has released a new standalone novel almost every year.
