Book Review

I was fascinated by the illustrations that represented different eras including dinosaurs, ancient buddhist statues, rockets and aliens

This book is about a timeless mountain which appeared at the beginning of the world. For millions of years it had been still but one day it woke up because its surroundings were too quiet and it felt alone. So then it moved hoping to find a lively and thriving habitat. But all it was going through was emptiness after searching for many years. Then, out of nowhere, it spotted a little flower. Was this a turning point for the aging mountain?

The author conveys a strong message about the natural world. I was fascinated by the illustrations that represented different eras including dinosaurs, ancient buddhist statues, rockets and aliens.

It was upsetting when the mountain was alone and had almost lost all his hope.

Overall, I enjoyed the storyline but it could have had more fun and lighthearted content. This book deserves a 7 out of 10 because it illustrates an amazing adventure of an active mountain walking to find a new life.

Although this book can be read by all ages, I would recommend this book to younger children aged 4 – 6, as it is primarily a picture book with additional text in places.

About the Book

A sweeping, profound and ambitious picture book. A powerful reflection on hope and healing, a future picture book classic for all ages??

Somewhere, towards the beginning of time, a mountain rose from the ocean and came to rest above the clouds.
Life sang a lullaby, and the mountain slept for many millions of years.
Until one day, when the world became too silent for sleep …
