Voyage of the Sparrowhawk Written by Natasha Farrant. Reviewed by Margaret, Age 11

This book is a real page turner and I never wanted to put it down!

It’s about a girl called Lottie (on the run with a stolen chihuahua) and a boy called Ben (on his own in a boat with a dog, who hopes that his lies about his absent brother won’t be uncovered by the police). The author really has created two characters to care about, both trying to find their footing in an unlikely friendship. But Ben and Lottie are actually more similar than it first appears.

As the adventure unfolds you never know what’s going to happen, there are unexpected twists and turns around every corner which made it exciting to read. The friendship between Lottie and Ben strikes you as genuine, a friendship that could exist in real life.

The main reason I enjoyed the book so much was because of its incredible structure. Nothing is left out, and you certainly won’t find yourself with a gap in your knowledge! This book is full of danger, adventure, cunning and hope. I would say a definite must-read for people my age.

I really hope Natasha Farrant writes another book, as it would be bound to be just as unputdownable as this one.
