Too Small Tola and the Three Fine Girls Reviewed by Annabel, Age 9

This excellent book has three stories in one. I like all of them a lot because they are about Tola and her family. However, they live in Nigeria so it is more interesting as you get a taste of what life is like in a totally different country.

I like the fact that Tola isn’t someone special like a princess because she is an ordinary girl who gets up to ordinary things. Just like all of us really. The book takes us with Tola to the market, the garage and the shop. All pretty normal places but different to what we are familiar with because they are in Nigeria and that’s why I enjoyed reading the book. The author made the characters really believable and made the family seem really real.

Tola’s big brother and sister are just like any other older siblings as they think they are bigger and more important than Tola but we find out in the first story that they are all equal. The author used mild, friendly humour about the brother and sister to show that no matter how Small Tola is, she is still important.

The was nothing I didn’t like about this Too Small Tola. It was easy for me to read but I would still recommend this book because sometimes you need something relaxing and friendly.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book because it was a happy book. Tola is very likeable and she is part of a happy family.

You will like Too Small Tola is you like fiction stories but also if you like finding out about real life things like what it is like to live in a different country. I would say you could read this book from very young (if someone reads it to you) up to about 10 years old.
