Read this one only if you read the first volume because things in the first book explain a lot. The author keeps all the main characters from the first book including the lion with the really big roar. Read from p127 to p129 to see funny stuff: what happens is…WEEEWOOOWEEWOO SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT WEEEWOO WEEEWOOO!
Book 2 introduces some new characters, like the psychic swan, whose advice is a bit useless and pointless. I liked one with the name ‘Socks on Toast’. I enjoyed the bit where they spent their time sitting down at the goat’s meditation centre.
I would describe the pictures as funny and everything I described the book as before in this review because this story is told through pictures, isn’t it?!
When I finished this book I decided to read the first Terrible Trio book again and my kitten, Macavity, or Kitkat, read it with me too. See the photo:)
I hope the author is working on a new Terrible Trio book…
About the Book
When Zeb the zebra, Barry the lemur and Margarine the penguin found out they had the worst superpowers in the world, Zeb was sure they would never ever have another day as terrible again.
But when Zeb turns up for his shift at the Superhero Café and finds it closed, it’s about to get a whole lot worse!
Margarine has lost her power of making mac ‘n’ cheese! Not so bad, you say? Well, that was before Zeb invited an angry, hungry lion and his whole pride to eat at the Café.
As they scramble to fix the problem in time for one of the cub’s birthday party, they soon realise the menu may include themselves! Can Margarine figure out a way to get her powers back and keep the lion happy?

Swapna Haddow is a British born children’s and middle grade author who first rose to fame with her debut series Dave Pigeon — a humorous pigeon themed comic adventure that won the Greenhouse Funny Prize and several regional children’s book awards. Before becoming a full time writer she trained in medical sciences but ultimately decided to follow her passion for storytelling. These days she lives in Dunedin, New Zealand with her husband, son and their dog — and continues to write playful, animal filled books beloved by children.

Minky Stapleton
Minky Stapleton is a multi-faceted illustrator and children’s book artist originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, who began her career as an award-winning Art Director and Creative Director before dedicating herself full-time to illustration. She now lives in Auckland, New Zealand, and has illustrated numerous picture books and junior fiction titles, worked on exhibitions and costume design, and teaches creative workshops for kids. In addition to illustrating for authors like Swapna Haddow, she has written and illustrated her own books, earning recognition in the New Zealand children’s publishing scene.
