The Storm Keepers’ Battle Written by Catherine Doyle. Reviewed by Isabelle, Age 12

I really enjoyed reading The Storm Keepers’ Battle. It’s the third book in the trilogy. I’ve liked the look of the first two books for a while but hadn’t got round to reading them. Despite this, I picked up the plot of the book fairly quickly but would have liked to read the other two first to have seen the full story of what happened before. However, saying this I do think that it makes an excellent stand-alone book.

With the help of his friends and fellow Arranmore islanders, Fionn Boyle must save Arranmore from Morrigan and her brothers. The only way he can defeat her lies within the Black Mountain with Morrigan herself. Fionn has to use his magic to create a storm, creating storm keepers who, armed with the weapons of their ancestor clan leaders, help the island in battle. But can they defeat Morrigan before it’s too late?

The first page of the book really intrigued me, especially the first few sentences: “Fionn Boyle was sure of two things: One, he was full of an ancient, rippling magic that could explode from him at any moment. Two, he had absolutely no idea how to control it.” This made me wonder what he might use his magic for and where he got it from and it made me think the book would be very exciting which it is! The part I found the most exciting was the actual battle which was very gripping because it wasn’t obvious who would win.

In this book I like the way Catherine Doyle reveals the whole truth and secrets slowly throughout the book as it made me want to keep reading to see what happened next. I also like the magic in it as I’m a big fan of books that have magic in. The way the book is written really draws you in and makes you believe the magic could actually be possible.

I would recommend this page turning book to anyone over the age of 10 who loves magic, adventure and mystery. I think if you’ve read the Strange Worlds Travel Agency you would definitely like this too.
