Reading volume 1 first might be useful. I am going to reserve volumes 1 and 2 from the library.
The cheat book was excellent even if it isn’t a cheat book, although a cheat book appears in it. I wish I’d read the other books because it’s volume 3 but I still enjoyed it and it made me laugh.
I got distracted reading the funny bits again while writing this review. It’s in a made up school in a made up place. I wish my school had free vending machines. I like the Art room – you just type what you want to make E.g. ‘Mona Lisa’ and it makes a perfect copy.
The smart money is silly but fun. At the start of every chapter there is a smart money count, a bit like the virtue points in the Loki books. Fixing school things gives you less smart money but sucking up to a robot teacher gives you coins. Clearing the sensor on the fountain loses you money – I think that’s unfair.
I liked the character Kamal but he is very overdramatic about his little baby brother, especially the smelly nappies! See page 20 for the four stages of baby hell and page 14 for a cartoon of a nose complaining about violation of nasal rights apparently!
I like it when the good and bad angels write in the book. A bad angel sits on one of Kamal’s shoulders and a good angel sits on the other shoulder.
I recommend it to anyone who likes hyperbole, hates baby brothers and likes technology.
