I loved all the description in the book and it made me feel like I was there and could escape a boring dull world to join in their mystery and help them
I enjoyed all the mystery in this story and how there were so many plot twists. I did not want to stop reading this book! I loved the place where it was set. Lowesdale cakes sound amazing and I want to eat them too. My favourite character was Izzy because she’s a bookworm like me.
I loved all the description in the book and it made me feel like I was there and could escape a boring dull world to join in their mystery and help them.
I wasn’t scared reading this book I was excited and I really felt for the characters. This book was the most mysterious book I’ve ever read. It’s just up my street because I really love fantasy books too.
I wish there was a sequel to this book where the two main characters find a human enemy who doesn’t like them and they have an adventure to find somewhere new to settle down.
Also, I wish that I could read more work from Eve Wersocki Morris – she is one of my new favourite authors
About the Book
Strange things have been happening to Layah and her younger sister, Izzie, ever since their mother dragged them to a rain-soaked cottage miles from anywhere in the Lake District: there is a peculiar whistling at night, a handful of unusual feathers appear on their doorstep and there are murmurings of a shadowed woman in the forest.

Eve Wersocki Morris is an award-nominated and bestselling children’s author and has been making up stories her whole life.
