A brilliant book to take on holiday. I reread it 3 times while away trying different story paths, then we did it as a family as well, making it into a game. This book would be really fun to use in class trying to guess who stole the machine.
I really liked the funky names of the characters, especially Burnella Milkbird and Dr Franklefink. My favourite character was Klaus, being his assistant was fun, and I liked the yeti hug. I also enjoyed the description of the police car/ dog and the witch/ caravan. It was really funny how the car still had dog like actions, e.g. getting fleas and the oil puddles, they really made me laugh.
It was a very funny book with lots of good jokes, I liked the ‘spilled milk teeth’ one the best. It was interesting to have the human as the odd one out and I liked the sound of the monsters world. The illustrations were fun and the black and white made them seem more mysterious.
I think this book is perfect for ages 6+ and a good one for all the family together, mine definitely enjoyed it.
It is a fun mix of Fighting Fantasy and Professor Layton with extra laughs.
