I thought that the use of 3rd person was satisfying and enlightening
I thought that the use of 3rd person was satisfying and enlightening because although it focused on Ruby (the protagonist)the novel shows other character’s actions while expressing her feelings. Ruby is my favourite character in the book. I admire her determination and perseverance to get her parents back together and courage to do whatever it takes.
The author added a character – Sam (Ruby’s older brother) despite him not being important to the plot. I liked that idea because having a sibling makes Ruby more relatable. As a result of this, the start of the story sounds like it could happen in real life, despite it having some supernatural elements later on.
Reading the book was interesting and I felt hooked wanting to know if Ruby succeeded in getting her divorced parents back together.
In my opinion, readers will be able to sypathise with Ruby and understand the pain of divorced parents.

Her parents have split up, and now she’s stuck in a creepy village. At night, she decides to escape and follow the ancient train track home.
Her journey has barely begun when she hears the eerie scream of a whistle – and an old steam train appears out of the darkness. Is Ruby ready for the ghost ride of her life?
