This story is really fun to read.
I enjoyed this book because it is very true to life and realistic. I can easily imagine this happening in Year 6!
In summary Nick is a crazy, unpopular boy who has a massive crush on a popular girl.
His best friend Frank advises him that this romance is not going to work and his plan to convince her to be his girlfriend is a bad idea.
I recommend this book to 10 to 11 year olds who love comedy and irony. It shows how harsh being in love can be sometimes and how Frank is actually a true friend to Nick.

This Shakespeare shake-up tale by Ross Montgomery is fun to read and provides a gentle introduction to the famous drama A Midsummer Night’s Dream by setting the story in a primary school where emotions are running high during rehearsals for the school play.
Ross’s comical story is illustrated throughout in black and white by Mark Beech. His pictures break-up the text making it less daunting for reluctant readers and also help to bring the characters to life. What would you do if the girl you loved thought you were just a joke?
Nick has a great idea to win over Jessie’s heart – he’ll get the leading role alongside her in the school play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
But when he is cast as the foolish joker Bottom instead of the romantic hero, his whole scheme falls apart. Enter Robyn, school prankster, who has a sneaky idea to put Nick back in the spotlight and finally get him noticed. But when opening night rolls around, one by one their grand plans go up in smoke!
