Rebel Heart Written by Ally Sherrick. Reviewed by Chloe, Age 12

I really enjoyed the adventure in this book. There was a lot of hard and tough decisions to make. In the story, the main part was about who to trust and who to be friends with. Merriweather was a very curious girl and wanted what is best for her family. On her adventure she faced danger, consequences and reality. It was really difficult but she carried on and fought her way through.

The main character was brave, courageous and full of love. I think that she was really brave because she left her family behind to go away and seek help. She has to go on a long journey to seek what she needs most but she stand firm and strong the whole way. Merriweather lied to everyone saying she was fighting with the government and was a boy but that was her only way of staying and nobody recognising her. She wasn’t sure who to trust and what people are like so she stayed with the enemies even though they were bossy and cruel. If she wasn’t with them she would face more than just danger and would be all alone. She made a friend, he was also a liar but they came form the same type of background.

It was a great book and I think this should be for ages 11+ as it uses big language and is about trusting people, not talking to strangers and being yourself not someone that you think people see. I know a moral that says ‘Be who you want to be not what others want to see’
