Book Review

The colourful pictures were so expressive, and told the story so well that I didn't really need words to help me understand the story so the words were a bonus

I believe I have read all of the Peng and Spanner books. This book was amazing. It was probably my favourite one of the series. This book followed on from the previous Peng and Spanner books.

The book was captivating from start to finish. I loved it. The colourful pictures were so expressive, and told the story so well that I didn’t really need words to help me understand the story so the words were a bonus. I have started to read books which don’t have pictures so it was good to go back and read something a little less intense.

I really enjoyed how the author made the story and writing funny. It was exciting, fast paced and I couldn’t put it down.

The story is about someone stealing Spanner’s invention – which takes your crusts away. The adventure takes you on twists and turns. The morale of the story is you shouldn’t steal or you could end up in jail.

This book could be read as a standalone book but I like the fact the stories continue from one to the next.

About the Book

Rival inventor, Dr Biscuits and his boss, Magnificent, are there too, to steal the Convention’s best invention. When they see the Crust-Away in action they realise they could use it to steal anything from anywhere without even leaving their secret hideout!

Can Peng and Spanners stop them before it’s too late? Will security guards Bosh and Tickle use the Concrete Banana of Justice? And what the flippers does all of this have to do with Mavis Onions and her cat Mr Stinky Pants?
