I finished the book in two days because it was intriguing and I really couldn’t stop reading!
As soon as I started reading the first page of this book, it grabbed my full attention. I literally couldn’t put it down because I couldn’t wait to see how the story would unfold.
I received a proof (pre-publication copy from the publisher). When I looked at the front cover, I wasn’t so sure that I would like this book because it is quite plain. But I soon realised never judge a book by it cover. I had a really nice surprise when I opened up this book to be greeted by a snippet of some of the news in the story sharing a vision of what the book was likely to come in its finished form.
My favourite character is Ruby because she is very adventurous just like me. She always carries a lock picking kit around with her and loves Houdini.
My favourite parts of the story are when Ash finally rides a mammoth and when the mammal association [MAC] holds a special party and lots of important people come but Ransom is rude to the hostess in front of royalty. This made me laugh lots. I like how the author sets it out, by going into the past to build up a scene.
I finished the book in two days because it was intriguing and I really couldn’t stop reading!
I was sad when it ended because it was so interesting and I wanted to keep reading. I will keep reading this book over and over again because it is so good. I hope that S.J Poyton will write another book in the series.
I recommend this book for people who fancy some adventure and want to go on a journey full of suspense.
About the Book

S.J. Poyton (Sally) is a neurodiverse writer, who struggles with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia, she also has POTS, Hyper Flexibility, and mobility issues, which means her spelling is wobbly and so is she! Sally has worked as a bookseller in museums, independent, and secondhand bookshops, hand-selling books, hosting author events, and set up and running a thriving children's department. Mammoth Rider was her first book for children.
