I really enjoyed this book because I love animals
I really enjoyed this book because I love animals.
I loved the part of the book where Hannah falls asleep and is taken to a place that seems like the olden days.
In the place where she wakes up Hannah meets a boy named Matthias. They work together to rescue a bear cub named Luna, who has been kept in captivity in the circus and is forced to dance in a way that is cruel.
This book makes me want to tell people who make bears dance to stop hurting them and to let them be free.
I really admire Hannah’s bravery when she has to “steal” Luna and set her free to the wild!
About the Book
The 9th book in the Winter Animal Stories is about a bear cub, more specifically, the rescue of a bear cub from its cruel master. It is a time-slip adventure tale about friendship, sibling relations and doing the right thing rather than turning a blind-eye.
Children naturally have a strong moral code and the injustice about the innocent bear cub’s situation calls for action. Young readers will relate to this and enjoy the fact that it is the children’s bravery that results in the cub being rescued from its tormentor. Luna and the other books in the Winter Animals series.
The cover illustration is by Britta Teckentrup and inside there are black and white illustrations by artist Jo Anne Davies.
Hannah knows there is something special about the wooden bear cub puppet from the moment she buys it at a Christmas market. So when the puppet gets broken, she cries herself to sleep.
Woken by a growling noise, she finds herself in a stable wearing strange old-fashioned clothes. Then she comes face to face with a real-life bear cub! The cub has been locked in ready to be put on show at the local market. Can Hannah return the bear to the wild and find a way back to her own time?

Holly Webb (born 1976 in London) is a prolific British children’s author who has written over 130 books, many of them involving animals, magic, and friendship. She studied Classics at Cambridge and worked as a children’s book editor before becoming a full-time writer, and now lives near Reading.
