Book Review

It stars a very cheeky winter sprite, a mean butler, a lonely orphan (who is our hero) and a mischievous sausage dog!

The story begins when Lydia has to move to Peppomberly and she only has until Christmas Day to become a proper lady. Her naughty sausage dog Colin keeps getting her in trouble! Will she make it to Christmas Day without being thrown out?

This funny, entertaining book is set in 1812 and I enjoyed it very much. It stars a very cheeky winter sprite, a mean butler, a lonely orphan (who is our hero) and a mischievous sausage dog.

Reading it was like really being there and watching it all happen! Even though it was set more than 200 years ago, it was easy to understand.

I would recommend it for people ages 7+ who like funny Christmas stories. Enjoy Reading!

A Short Introduction to the Story

One winter evening, Lydia Marmalade arrives at Lady Partridge’s mansion. She has nothing to her name except her sausage dog, Colin, but she’s determined to make this her new home.

Lady Partridge isn’t at all keen to make Lydia part of the family. If Lydia doesn’t behave herself until the end of the winter season, she’ll cast her off entirely and Lydia doesn’t have anywhere else to live.

Helped (and often hindered) by a mischievous winter sprite, a grumpy butler and a hungry Colin, Lydia makes a wish on the most magical night of the year. Sometimes you just need magic to light the way forward . . .
