this book teaches an important lesson – there are different kinds of being smart!
Keith is a boy who wants to go to an inventor’s fair in Paris. The problem is that he doesn’t have enough money, so he enters a quiz to try to win the prize money. He doesn’t think he’s smart enough, and the story is all about how Keith tries to steal his smarty pants sister’s brain!
I loved this book because it was funny and it teaches an important lesson – there are different kinds of being smart!
Keith didn’t know as many things as his sister, but was smart in a different way. He had a great imagination and lots of ideas about experiments and inventions. Like – did you know that nails don’t grow on sausages? I learnt that from Keith’s experiment!!!
My favourite characters were the 8 sneezing rabbits – they made me laugh. And my favourite part was when Min (Keith’s sister) shouted “You’ll never catch me alive” while being chased by the 8 sneezing rabbits.
I read this with my Dad and we both laughed a lot – so I think it’s a great book for children and adults to read together.
About the Book
This crazy funny story which will get readers aged 5-8 years laughing out aloud was written by Jo Simmons and illustrated in back and white by Nathan Reed. There is no better way to get reluctant readers to pick up a book voluntarily than by recommending one that is guaranteed to amuse them such as this.
Our ‘hero’ Keith has entered the Junior Mega Brain quiz and he’s determined to win. The only problem is – he’s not really a genius. Unfortunately for Keith, his sister Minerva actually is, and Keith will have to go head to head against her in the competition. Keith realises he needs to get super smart and fast so he sets about trying to steal his sister’s brain. Don’t worry no one gets hurt but this story does make everyone (including parents) think about how success should be measured…
