I recommend this book to anyone who loves poetry and nature
I hear the trees is a fun and joyful book and there is lots of lessons that the book teaches you.
My favourite poem is a letter to spring from winter because at first you think that winter is being scornful and kind of laughing at spring but actually winter is saying take over. In the book winter says so I might as well … just … well give in and welcome you!
Around the end there’s a small play called just a weed it’s a few flowers called: zinnia, daisy, rose, marigold, daisy, dandelion and there is a worm. SO all of the flowers are being mean to dandelion because she’s just a weed but she tells them not to complain because they need her there because weeds are wonderful. And worm helps her to grow her roots deep down and makes sure that the earth is filled with fantastic food. I really liked this story because they are all friends at the end.
I really liked the illustrations because they helped to bring the poems to life and the bright colours made me feel happy.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves poetry and nature.

Zaro Weil was born in the US, before moving to London, where she spent most of her life. She worked as a director, dancer, actress, playwright, historian, author, publisher and poet, among other things.
Now she lives in an old farm on a little hill in southern France.

Junli Song
Junli Song grew up in Chicago, but lived abroad from 2012-2018 in South Korea, England, Italy, and South Africa. She completed her MFA at the University of Arkansas with a concentration in printmaking in 2023, and is the current Grant Wood Fellow in printmaking at the University of Iowa. As an artist and storyteller, she works across a range of media from printmaking and painting to sculpture and animation to explore imagined worlds and personal mythologies.
