Forest of Forbidden Magic Written by Eve Wersocki Morris. Reviewed by Emaan, Age 8

When I first glanced at the cover of this book I thought this seems dark and mysterious which made me eager to read it because I love mysteries! I was fascinated by the illustrations on the front cover especially the wolf and the fairies. As soon as I read the first page I was totally engrossed, I could hardly put it down.

The story is about Elsa and Tig who receive a mysterious letter with two charms, a fairy and a wolf. I was really nervous about what would happen to them when they went into the forest because when people went in they didn’t come out. I liked reading the part where Elsa and Tig got attacked by fairies even though it was a bit violent. I liked Elsa’s character because she’s the captain of a netball team and I love netball. I was shocked when Elsa got stabbed by a syringe.I felt alarmed when they realised that grandfather Killian was evil.

The map at the start of the book is intricately drawn and it helped me to work out where places are when I was reading the story. The name of the chapters are very creative and made me want to keep reading the book. I think that the length of the book was just right.
I would recommend this book to children who like mysteries and won’t be scared easily.

I feel that Eve has done amazingly well to write this book because she was diagnosed with dyslexia. I would definitely be interested in reading more books by Eve.
