I couldn’t put this book down; I even read this book at the dinner table. It’s hilarious!
Finn has an annoying big brother like me but nowhere near as bad as mine. Someone called Google can say good morning in 13 languages. There is “sarcastic cheers” One of the teachers used to hang kids on coat hooks!!! I liked the way the front cover switched the n in “Nailed it” to an F.
His little sister gave him the nickname ‘finleycorn’.
He’s in high school and he doesn’t know the difference between a metaphor and a simile – I know that and I’m not even in high school!
He thinks junior school teachers are smarter because they teach more than one subject – I think he does have a point.
Have a look on page 155 for funny names and page 18 for a picture of mutant slug on wheels. I liked the non-real, non-descriptive description of the school uniform in chapter 2, it made me laugh.
If you like Horrible Histories you should read this book.
I hope he will write another book about Finn

Finn just wants to survive Year 7, but his life is destined to be a series of epic fails. It’s only Tuesday and his scheming, unicorn-obsessed little sister has already stuck a horn to his head (with superglue) and his properly evil older brother has wedgied him 278 times.
And don’t even ask what happened at swimming, in front of the WHOLE CLASS. At least he has best friends Laszlo (a hopeless romantic) and Google (ask her anything) by his side as he attempts to turn failure into victory in his very own book that is definitely not a diary.

Al Murphy
Al Murphy is a British illustrator and animator whose work has appeared for clients such as the BBC, MTV, and Air France. He graduated from the Liverpool School of Art in 1999 and later became a children’s book author, publishing 'A Duck Called Brian'.
