Josephine Baker is a very important and inspiring person in history; she fought for equal rights and an end to racism
This book is sad at times but it also contains lots of positive messages. It shows how resilient Josephine Baker was even though she had a tough life and lots of bad experiences. She kept dreaming and never gave up!
She was the first African American woman to star in movies. She loved dancing and singing too!
She is a very important and inspiring person in history; she fought for equal rights and an end to racism. Josephine’s life is fascinating and I would recommend this book to young readers!

Dancer, singer, actress, movie star, civil-rights activist – Josephine Baker was a phenomenon!
Overcoming the poverty and abuse of her childhood in a segregated America, Josephine grew up to become one of the biggest stars of the early twentieth century, particularly adored in her adopted country of France.
She used her connections to help the Resistance in their fight against the Nazis during the Second World War and later became involved with Martin Luther King Jr and the civil rights movement in the US.
