The book took me on a whirlwind of mystery, through many different worlds
I really enjoyed this book. Although the pictures were black and white they were still really engaging, helping with the story. The story was about Dribble and Dash – two adopted brothers who went on an adventure to find out who stole the gems.
The book took me on a whirlwind of mystery, through many different worlds. There were twists and turns. Eventually we found out who stole the gumdrop of light. The perpetrator was captured and punished, and the world was saved.
When I properly started this book, I couldn’t put it down and read it in a few hours. I was excited in the morning, when I woke to continue the adventure. I am so pleased I read this book and want to read the rest of the series. So much so I was super excited to be given the next one for my birthday this week.
About the Book
Adoptive brothers Dribble the snail and Dash the firefly are on a tour of the local ant’s nest to see the queen’s crown jewels, when the dastardly dung beetles strike again and swipe the priceless Gumdrop of Destiny!

David O’Connell is a British writer and illustrator based in London best known for his humorous children’s books and series, including Monster & Chips and the Dundoodle Mysteries. He has written and illustrated more than fifty books, blending magic, monsters and comic flair in stories for young readers. In addition to his own work, he frequently collaborates with other authors as an illustrator and teaches picture book writing and illustration through courses with Curtis Brown Creative.
