This definitely goes on the list of my all-time favourites
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was an easy read for me, but one that I just couldn’t put down. The complex fantasy world that Lupo has created is expertly explained using informative pages that do not bore the reader.
The story itself is both expected and unexpected, I don’t think there is a better way to describe it! I loved this book, and though it is not heartwarming in the generic sense, there is something in its message about staying true to what you believe in, overcoming past rivalries and facing your fears with determination, that really inspires a reader. It makes you fall in love with the characters and the story all over again.

This the second of Kesia Lupo’s stand-alone YA fantasy adventures.
Based on the island of Scarossa, this story follows two people through a tale of becoming. The two different points of view allow the reader to delve into the complex world that Lupo has expertly created.
Throughout his life Livio is placed second, when an unexpected turn of events makes him the first in line, and he has to leave everything he loves behind to face his fate.
Beatrice has had her life planned out ahead of her throughout her childhood, when suddenly her world is turned upside down and she is forced to face the truth. A twist of fate unites Livio and Beatrice, and in unlikely circumstances they have to decide who they want to be.
This gripping story shows the trials of being lost or lonely in the world and creates an incredible universe in which these two young people have to navigate their fate and make decisions which could either destroy the city they know, or create a better future
