This Book Will Make You Cry

This book claims to make you cry. To be honest? It might.
The main character in the book is Iggy. They’re a gender non conforming teenager with no memory of what happened last summer. Each year Iggy and their dads would go travelling around Europe – mainly France. Another family ,the Redwoods, would often meet them at campsites throughout their trip. Their son, Evan, and Iggy never got on but this summer Evan is different.
Iggy decided that as a part of their family trip this year they wanted to go back to Dijon, where the accident happened. They want to remember what happened so they can begin to feel joy again after a dark year following the accident. They meet Roscoe on their first day and have a wonderful summer together until Iggy begins to remember.
The opening paragraph immediately hooked me in. Once I started reading I couldn’t stop (and ended up reading the book in a day!). From the very start we find out that Iggy was in an accident but the author doesn’t fully reveal what happened until the end.
For me, the main message in the book was to find joy even when it seems impossible. However I think there could easily be a different meaning to everyone who reads it.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to younger teenagers looking for a good read.
About the Book
