This is a great book that makes me laugh out loud
This is a great book that makes me laugh out loud. Carmichael Taylor also known as ‘Car’ loves English and always acts the clown which usually ends up in disaster. What happens when he goes too far? In this book we find out.
My favourite bit was when Car’s brother starts nudging Car to try and make him drop his ice cream in some dog poo but Malky (Car’s brother) drops his ice cream in the poo instead. Then Car yells 3 second rule before getting into trouble from his mum. This is something I find hilarious because I can imagine this happening in real life.
Ben Bailey Smith describes all of the characters in great detail and in doing so helps us get a very detailed image in our minds about what the characters look like. I especially liked it when the author described Car’s dad as a ginger giant because he is tall and has ginger hair.
Carmichael loves English and there is lots of tricky vocabulary in the book, but after using the words he describes what they mean which I found very helpful.
This book at some points made me laugh out loud and yet at other times there was a serious message conveyed about what lengths a boy would go to, to get a laugh. I would recommend this book to people who like a laugh or people who want a light-hearted read. It was not my typical genre of book but due to the humorous aspects of this book I thoroughly enjoyed it.

From comedian, actor, rapper and screenwriter Ben Bailey Smith comes an amusing and entertaining story with a big-heart about family, friendship and how far one boy will go to get a laugh.
For thirteen-year-old Carmichael Taylor, life is one big joke – in a good way. He just can’t understand why no one else seems to find everything as funny as he does.
When Car is filmed stumbling into performing a piece of hilarious stand-up at the school talent show – targeting his family, school and friends – the footage ends up creating international infamy. But with the promise of fame and fortune comes trouble, and it’s up to Car to decide what or who he’s willing to risk to chase his comedy dream.
