Book Review

an easy-to-read, fast-paced and thrilling YA read

I flew through this book and enjoyed every page! The novel is very much a ‘Teen Scream’ read filled with humorous anecdotes and horror movie references which avid horror film fans (like myself) will enjoy reading. From beginning to end, the story is well written and the plot unravels nicely revealing much more than just a few secrets…

The story revolves around ‘Charley’ a cult horror fan who after getting involved with the wrong crowd and falling into some trouble, is sent away to an all-girls boarding school where she meets ‘Olive’ an equally infatuated horror fan, they end up befriending each other and try to navigate the treacherous waters of an all-girls school together.

All is well, UNTIL a student from ‘Harrogate School for Girls’ is found dead, and the horror-obsessed duo try to work together to find out the truth of their classmate’s death before it’s too late…

The novel ends on a cliffhanger which in addition to the final plot twist of the story and overall a well-written book results in an enthralling story which I would recommend to all murder-mystery novel fans!

About the Book

Horror movie enthusiast Charley is determined to keep a low profile when she’s enrolled at a girls’ boarding school on a remote island. That is, until someone starts killing off her senior class!

From elaborate scare tactics to severed heads in fridges, Charley has found herself at the centre of a teen horror movie. And that’s not the only alarming thing that’s happening – she’s now seeing the ghosts of her former classmates!

Haunted by her peers, and with everyone beginning to suspect her, Charley decides to do something about it. She and her only best friend Olive are going to solve the murders and find out who’s killing off the class before graduation. Charley just needs those pesky ghosts to shut up and give her a hand…
