Book Review

I knew that the layout would be like a video game or fantasy novel, but I didn’t know it would be this riveting!

Contender: The Champion is a gripping and exciting book about how Cade Carter and his friends fight off aliens, battle an evil alien mastermind, and discover many historical and scientific facts. I was drawn into the book, and it was a page-turner. Having read the first book already, I knew that the layout would be like a video game or fantasy novel, but I didn’t know it would be this riveting!

Taran Matharu, the author, makes the words come off the page and I didn’t know what was going to happen next. Although when you first pick it up, Contender: The Champion may seem like a fantasy book, it also has lots of historical facts included throughout, with references to the dinosaurs, romans, some historic ships, and many things from the 20th century.

I really enjoyed this book because it is comprehensive and action packed, but it has a few swear words and lots of violence in it, so I would only say it is suitable for anyone above the age of 12. The story makes sense without having read the first and second books in the series, so you don’t really need to have read them beforehand.

I would suggest that you read it whether you like fantasy, science fiction, history, or video games.
