a really magical and dark read
This book is about Kit, a sickly girl who would rather hide in the shadows than attend the grand ball held for Prince Idris’s 18th birthday. But when she meets Idris, she feels seen, even if she didn’t leave a lasting impression on him.
Idris has secrets of his own, and Kit soon finds herself caught up in a dangerous world of fae magic, bargains and forbidden feelings. Things become even more complicated when Kit’s body is swapped with her stepsister Catherine’s, changing her life completely.
In my opinion, this was a really magical and dark read. I loved the setting and adored the fae aspects. The secrets and twists kept me interested, and I really wanted to know how everything would come together.
I recommend this book to fans of dark fairytales who like romance, fae magic and plenty of secrets.

On the eve of Prince Idris’s eighteenth birthday, a grand ball is held for him to meet his intended, Princess Catharine. But for her ailing step-sister Kit, it is a night to hide in the shadows and avoid the unwanted attentions of her step-father, the king. Everything changes when Kit lays eyes on Idris, who somehow sees through her guarded facade to the secret she carries.
Idris, however, hides a dark truth of his own. His family once wronged the fae queen and he has agreed to atone for their crime, even though it means dancing to his death. But he isn’t the only one making dangerous deals with the fae. Kit’s mother has a plan to save her daughter – by switching Kit’s body with Catharine’s.
