Book Review

I really loved all the colourful pictures in this book

Theo’s opinion – This is a happy book which shows that even if you use the same shapes you can make different things. I loved seeing the different pictures made by a tangram on each page like the tiger, the bat, the bear, the cake and the balloon. The last page had all the pictures from the book and I could recount them with my Mum. I really loved all the colourful pictures in this book.

Mum’s opinion – An imaginative book that uses the same seven shapes to create different pictures. It was wonderful to turn each page and see a totally different picture. This book is engaging as it not only teaches children about shapes but also teaches them language like ‘undies’, ‘knight’ and ‘shattered’. Each page is colourful and bright and there is lots to talk about on each page.

About the Book

A lively story in which all the illustrations are tangrams; the well-known geometrical puzzle that is a square cut into seven pieces arranged to make various other shapes.

It is also a delightful story about the imagination where the words and pictures combine to tell a deeper story about the idea of self.
