I liked ‘The Scarediest Bear’ lots! The words rhymed and me and my mummy liked guessing what was coming next. The pictures were my favourite because there was so much to look at on every page. I wanted to read it again and again!

The illustrations are full of detail and kept my little one interested the whole way through. I also really loved the heartwarming story of the bear facing his fears with the help of the hare — such a gentle and reassuring lesson for a toddler who is just starting to recognise and understand fears of their own.

Frances Stickley
Frances Stickley is a British children’s author, literacy specialist, and former primary school teacher who grew up in Nottingham and Norwich, England. She is known for writing picture books such as Love You Always, The Mouse’s Apples, and What Will You Dream of Tonight?, and won the Bloomsbury and National Literacy Trust Short Story Prize in 2017. Inspired by her love of stories and poetry from a young age, she continues to create imaginative books for children.
