I think the book will be good for any boys and girls who like secrets and adventures
This is the first book I have reviewed as part of the Kids’ Reviews panel and am really proud that I read this book all by myself and then told my Mum all about it.
This story is about a young boy called Henry and his grandpa and the grandpa shares his memories with him.
The memories are about exciting adventures Henry’s grandpa had when he was younger.
I loved the pictures in this book for two reasons:
1/They showed what grandad saw when he was a boy, and
2/they helped me read the words better because they described the action more clearly.
I liked in the end that grandad’s stories will now be remembered by Henry and he will take care of them and put his own memories in the hat.
I really liked the ending, but it is a secret so I’m am not going to spoil it!
I think the book will be good for any boys and girls who like secrets and adventures.
About the Book
This bright and glossy picture book is suitable for independent readers aged 5-8 years, but it would also be enjoyed by younger children at story-time. It celebrates the special friendship a child can have with their grandparent. It is an original tale with a mischievous conspiratorial vibe that will delight young readers. The joy of the fun narrative is amplified by Wazza Pink’s bold illustrations.
Henry’s got a secret and his Grandpa suggests he should keep it under his hat, only Henry doesn’t have a hat.
Luckily Grandpa has one that is just right but when Henry puts it on he discovers Grandpa has some secrets of his own!
