I know people who have some of these conditions so it was nice to learn more about how things are for some of my family and friends
I learned so many interesting things from this book about how people can be different.
It made me feel very grateful for the person I am. I really enjoyed reading it because I know people who have some of these conditions so it was nice to learn more about how things are for some of my family and friends.
The glossary at the back is useful to find information quickly.
I loved the page titles and that each section is only one page and not too long.
I also liked how this was written like a story about how all the different school children spend their day.
The big pictures were interesting and at times funny!
About the Book
This is a hugely interesting and informative book that adults can learn from as well as children. Jon Roberts tells the stories of a number of children with a variety of differences inspired by the real-life experiences of his daughter, Kya who is on the autistic spectrum, and some of her friends.
In this gently told picture book, with lovely illustrations by Hannah Rounding, we are reminded that every child is different. Whilst some have differences that you can see, others have differences that may not be so obvious. We are all unique. We all have our own lives, our own dreams, our own talents and should be proud of our uniqueness.
A variety of conditions, including autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, ADHD, Down’s Syndrome, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, epilepsy and asthma are introduced for young readers, discussing how the challenges of each affect children both in a school setting and outside and how they engage in activities they love.
