I liked joining in
Zaki was immediately attracted to the colourful cover of this book and started turning the pages straightaway. He liked naming all the colours on the first few pages. Zaki enjoyed listening to the repetitive and catchy text and before long started joining in with ‘We’re following a rainbow. Would you like to join us?’
He was initially confused by the animals not being the usual colours and commented ‘cows are not red’ but after a while he thought this was fun.
Zaki liked the way lots of animals joined the family and went up the rainbow in fun ways such as doing handstands and press ups, and then came down it like a slide!
He loved joining in with the animal sounds. The book also generated a conversation about families being unique, each is different.

This bright but unconventionally coloured picture book by Steve Antony is great fun to read and super-interactive.
Join two dads and their three children as they set off on an adventure to find the Rainbowsaurus.
Reminiscent in form of Michael Rosen’s children’s classic ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ young children will enjoy the use of rhyme and repetition in this story – even more so if they happen to be dinosaur fans!
