I loved the idea of how to make a frozen land using everyday objects at the back of the book.
Theo’s opinion – This book shows all the animals like penguins, gannets, seals, reindeers and salmon that live in the Arctic. I took this book into school and my teacher read this book out to my classmates as we were learning about this topic.
We enjoyed exploring the Arctic through this book. I loved the idea of how to make a frozen land using everyday objects at the back of the book. The pictures are colourful and bright and I can imagine myself freezing there!
Mum’s opinion – The book does an excellent job of balancing education with storytelling. It introduces young readers to animals, climates and ways of life in frozen regions.
The book captures life in one of the coldest regions in the planet through the vibrant and detailed illustrations. It is educational and provokes great discussion amongst young readers. We really enjoyed this book.

Caryl Hart is a UK-based children’s author who has written more than fifty picture books, board books and young fiction titles — among them favourites like Meet the Oceans and Thank You for the Little Things. She began writing for children in her early thirties after being inspired by library picture books, eventually publishing her first book in 2009. Beyond writing, she also runs creative literacy workshops for schools, libraries and community events — aiming to foster a love of reading and storytelling among young people.
Illustrator
Harry Woodgate
Harry Woodgate is a British illustrator and author known for their vibrant, inclusive artwork and storytelling. They gained recognition for creating children’s books such as Grandad’s Camper, which won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize for illustrated books. Woodgate’s work often celebrates diversity, nature, and LGBTQ+ themes, making them an important contemporary voice in children’s literature.
