I was so excited to read this book we read it though twice straight after school!
Storm like the story of the little girl getting her first pet goldfish as she recently got one too.
She said Richard is just like my fish I need to name mine Richard too now or maybe Rosie.
Storm enjoyed that there was little facts about fish throughout the story but they did not interfere with the story.
Storm liked there was a happy ending when Richard went to live in Sandys pond next door.
Storm was amazed that fish can see more colours then humans and that they can remember things for about 5 months.

My Pet Goldfish is a delightful story about a child’s first pet goldfish with stunning illustrations by Catherine Rayner.

As you can see form some slides below the artwork in this book has aqueous quality to it which matches the topic well. Although the goldfish is called Richard the child is non-gender specific. This title is published by Walker Books and is likely to inspire young readers to visit their local pet shop!

Catherine Rayner
Catherine Rayner (born 1982) is a British children’s book author and illustrator, best known for her richly detailed, expressive animal illustrations. After studying illustration at the Edinburgh College of Art, she published her debut book 'Augustus and His Smile' in 2006 and went on to win the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal in 2009 for 'Harris Finds His Feet'. She now lives in Edinburgh, where she continues to create picture books and exhibits her artwork widely.
