we enjoyed talking about all the ways in which you can do kind things for different people
Clara says: I liked the pictures. My favourites were the fireworks and the stars. I liked it when the bear and the child had a tea party. And the butterflies that were everywhere.
Mum says: Clara and I enjoyed reading ‘Love is the little things’ and talking about all the ways in which you can do kind things for different people – and thinking who those people might be, because, as Clara says, ‘there isn’t a bear in the woods where we live’.
The characterful line drawings particularly appealed to both of us. Although the book is about love and the language very simple, the images convey a wide range of emotions and expressions.

It is said that ‘actions speak louder than words’. This beautifully illustrated book is a lovely reminder to us all about the little ways we can demonstrate our love for someone through our gestures, patience and smile.
Join Big and Small as they journey through the moments that make a relationship – from blowing bubbles in the bath, to saying ‘sorry’.
Love is in the little things.
A kiss, a smile, a cup of tea.
Just me and you sitting quietly.
A song, a hug, a helping hand
that lifts us up so we can stand.
