I think he made the right choice to decide not to learn to be a monster and just be himself
I think this is a great book because the words and the pictures go together really well. The story is about a little werewolf who doesn’t fit in at his school. He can’t howl because his voice is too squeaky, he can’t scare anybody and everybody laughs at him.
I felt very sorry for him when the ogre told him he would never, EVER be a monster but this was the only sad part and it turned out very happy in the end.
The best part of the book was really funny. The little werewolf meets some human friends and they scare his old teacher! When he surprises her, she whizzes all over the classroom! The picture of this is full of silliness and it made me laugh and giggle.
I was pleased that he could go back to monster school but I think he made the right choice to decide not to learn to be a monster and just be himselfI think he made the right choice to decide not to learn to be a monster and just be himself.
The book also told me that you don’t need to be scary at Hallowe’en. You can be friendly and a little bit mischievous instead!

David Walliams
David Walliams is an English comedian, actor, writer and television personality best known for co-creating and starring in the sketch-comedy show Little Britain.
He is also a hugely successful children’s author, having written popular novels such as 'Gangsta Granny' and 'The Boy in the Dress' — with worldwide book sales surpassing 50 million copies. Beyond entertainment and writing, Walliams is known for his charity work and was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2017 for his services to charity and the arts.
Illustrator
Adam Stower
Adam Stower is a British illustrator and children’s-book author, educated at the Norwich School of Art and the University of Brighton (M.A. in Narrative Illustration). He has worked as an illustrator for over 25 years and began writing and illustrating his own books in 2004.
In 2025 he won the German Children’s Book Prize for his book Murray the Viking — a testament to his enduring appeal and influence in children’s literature.
