Grandad’s World Reviewed by Theo, Age 6

Theo’s opinion – I could relate to this book as my Grandad also lives in a village in the Lake District and we also explore when we go on walks in the countryside. Like the Grandad in the book, we also see ducks and fish in the river.

It was terrible to see someone throwing rubbish in the stream and it was great to see the Grandad and the boy in the book clearing up the rubbish. At the end of the book, I was happy to see everyone in the village and the creatures enjoying the clean space near the stream. It is important we look after our environment for future generations.

Mum’s opinion – This was a heart-warming story of a Grandad and grandson bonding through the summer and having a joint project clearing up the rubbish in the stream. T

he book shows the importance of these relationships keeping both generations active mentally and physically. We enjoyed looking at the detailed and colourful illustrations and spotting the different wildlife in the countryside like the kingfisher, the fox and the chickens.
