I loved looking at the map at the back and discovering where all the places mentioned in the book were
Caitlin says: I liked this book because it was exciting and had great pictures showing the different sights of London. I thought Gaspard the fox was really brave to follow Honey and Finty all the way to Hyde Park. I loved how he snuck on a real London bus because I got to see all the sights along the bus route.
My favourite page was of China Town because it looked like a fun place and I could imagine the delicious smells of tasty food. I also loved looking at the map at the back and discovering where all the places mentioned in the book were.
Mum says: This was a wonderful story with beautiful illustrations that took me down memory lane. It was great to be able to show Caitlin some of the sights from a bus route I took daily when I lived in London. We even looked up and listened to ‘Gaspard de la Nuit’ on Spotify as it was mentioned early on in the story.
However, I would recommend a parent read with, or to, their child to help explain some of the language, which was quite tricky for a 7 year old to read/understand by themselves

In this adventure for Gaspard the Fox gets to see several London landmarks as he travels on a No.38 bus across London and ends up appearing centre stage at Hyde Park.
There are lots of descriptions about the fox’s brave journey so readers can really imagine the sights, sounds and smells of London city centre and the story is beautifully illustrated by James Mayhew.
It is ideal for children aged 6- 8 years, but older and younger readers will enjoy reading it too, and following the journey on the map.
