The pictures help me to understand what the words are saying
Sulayman’s review: This book has nice big titles for each page so its easy to see what it is about. I like the way the children all play together and do fun things with each other in the big pictures. The pictures help me to understand what the words are saying. I like making craft things just like the children in the book!
Mums thoughts: Hard back books are always a win as they are much sturdier and robust enough to withstand rough little fingers and hands! This book brings some serious concepts of friendship down to a simple level suitable for young children. I particularly like the pictures depicting children of different racial backgrounds. There are also some great ideas at the back of the book that have been very useful for extension activities.
About the Book
This little hard-back book on Friendship by Helen Mortimer is brightly illustrated making it an attractive and robust edition to a pre-schooler’s little library! It uses carefully chosen words and phrases, such as ‘belonging’ and ‘be loyal’, and allows a special space during story time for grown-ups and young children to consider what it means to be a friend.
This title is one in a six-book Home Learning educational series called Big Words for Little People (illustrated by Cristina Trapanese) that explores big topics with young children in a way that is understandable for developing minds.
Each book includes reassuring tips for parents on how to enjoy these books, encourage conversation and build language confidence. We think it is lovely.
