Book Review

his is a lovely story of friendship and adventure

Theo’s Opinion –

I loved this adventurous book with the cat and dog having fun at sea, they meet interesting animals along the way – a swallow, dolphins, a crocodile , an octopus and a cave salamander. They escape a volcano eruption just in time and it was exciting when they found an oyster with a pearl.

I thought it was a great idea that the dog suggested the cat call herself Pearl after this jewel of the sea. This is a lovely story of friendship and adventure and the pictures made me imagine myself on this adventure too.

Mum’s opinion

What a lovely book about a cat and dog having a whale of a time at sea. There is so much to talk about with young children as the illustrations are bright and colourful and it also provides a chance to talk about vocabulary children wouldn’t know like ‘ominous’, ‘olm’ and ‘syphon’. We enjoyed this book a lot as we love being by the water too.

About the Book

Bob and his feline friend have escaped shipwreck and are off on a nautical treasure hunt.

They meet many friendly animals along the way who guide them to an oceanic volcano where the treasure is hidden and guarded by a mysterious creature.

Will the friends find the treasure and will they escape the erupting volcano?
